Bela Flores Designs has been featured before, but this week, we want to delve more into the person behind the brand.
As a teen, Evelyn was in foster care with her sibling and struggled with concern over finding placement together as it isn’t uncommon for siblings to become separated in care. Luckily, she had a positive mindset and uses this experience as motivation to give back to that community and fight against housing insecurity any way that she can.
More recently, Bela Flores Designs was established as a way to combine two of her passions: giving back to the community & being creative. It has created an outlet for her to display her craft with as much meaning and purpose as possible while challenging her as an artist.
While on the surface, Bela Flores Designs looks striking and sparks intrigue from onlookers, but it was also created with environmental sustainability in mind. Packaging is fully recyclable and offers an alternative to the standard, wasteful packaging of other style brands. Evelyn wanted to be responsible in her approach to packaging and shipping so consumers don’t have to feel reckless after a purchase.
As mentioned in a previous post, items made and sold by Bela Flores Designs contribute completely to Village De Amor. Evelyn works diligently to make sure that every product is up to par knowing that every purchase goes to a great cause.
In her free time, Evelyn spends much of her time reading, engaging with the community, and of course, spending time with her dog Leo (left).
