The end goal for our group of kids is to grow up with confidence and know-how to succeed in life after care. We will offer support as it is needed and want our youth to be aware that there are people that care about them and their wellbeing. We want to be motivators by creating a familial lifestyle in which youth can turn to us with any questions for guidance at any point in their lives.
But it can’t be overstated that teaching independence and not interdependence has more of a positive impact on the development of self-confidence. But we do want our youth to look to us for guidance so as not to fall into feelings of hopelessness or dread. Like a family structure or a Village, we are there regardless of life’s shortfalls and celebrate the many successes to come. Even if just to talk.
We will teach real-life skills. Our youth will learn how to cook, clean, do laundry, maintain a healthy lifestyle, set goals, manage time, prioritize tasks, manage money, etc. We want to provide tools and allow the youth to use them as needed.
We aim to be the structure that they can rely on and assist them to carry on the self-discipline needed to thrive as adults that those outside of the Foster Care System could also benefit from.
Through our blog, we will outline some of the ways that helpful aspects of our program can be replicated for that very reason. We wish to enrich those in our community who choose to be a part of our Village.
